The University of Southampton Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU) is based at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit is a newly formed and growing part of the medical school and part of the CRUK Clinical Centre. This role is part of a small team of staff and the successful applicant will be working with the Test and Compliance Lead.

We have a vacancy for a Test Analyst to undertake work in testing an existing web based national medical research management system for the NHS and other research institutions, as well as new mobile health applications which are also supported by the unit. Applicants should have an interest in producing high quality software with proven skills in manual test execution and defect tracking.  The ability to communicate with external customers is essential.

The successful applicant must, as a minimum, have experience of analysing requirements and functional specifications in order to write test scripts to ensure the acceptance criteria is met.  You will assess the risk and severity of defects found within the requirements or the code, log and manage these through a defect management tool. 

Other skills that would be advantageous include Automation, SQL Server Management Studio mobile and browser compatibility testing methodologies.

There are also opportunities to work on other software projects in medicine as well as in development support tools and frameworks such as continuous integration and integration testing.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in high standards of quality, as well as show initiative and a very sharp eye for detail.
