Global Technical Operations - Shared Services is seeking an interested candidate to support the proper and timely processing of technical changes related to our Alliance and Divestiture Partners as well as lead investigations and strategic projects within our technical network. The successful candidate will be capable of providing boundaryless application of leadership skills for project management, global change management, and execution of strategic technical initiatives, as well as ownership and optimization of GTO managed technical support systems.

In support of our alliance and divestiture partners, the candidate will be responsible for working with the internal Merck sites and the alliance or divestiture partner to ensure change controls are appropriately authored, assessed and shared prior to execution. The candidate will ensure timely responses are received and will monitor status of change control records and follow up as needed. The candidate will participate as needed in the development and continuous improvement of the change control process. The candidate will interact across multiple functions to support Change Control activities.

This position will also challenge the individual to drive business analysis as they plan and lead the execution of product support or strategic initiatives. This position offers the opportunity for critical thinking while troubleshooting complex product processing problems, designing and implementing innovative technical solutions, and supporting effective implementation of divisional initiatives.

Interested candidates must be able to work independently or as part of a project team, to plan, develop and apply technical resolution for the purpose of product, process, and/or technical support system optimization. Project activities require expertise and full application of sound scientific principles, theories, concepts techniques and project management skills, as well as a working knowledge of Merck methods, standards, procedures and practices.

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

B.S. or M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Pharmacy or other related engineering/scientific fields

Required Experience and Skills:

Demonstrated interpersonal skills including flexibility and ability to work in a team environment. Proven analytical capabilities and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Minimum 7 years’ experience in a technical support role for drug substance or drug product manufacturing or development.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in small molecule drug substance or product support with demonstrated expertise in one or more related unit operations.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

•Strong technical/manufacturing background in pharmaceutical and packaging operations in general and solid dosage in particular, including quality systems and process technology (technology transfer, process & cleaning validation, problem solving)
•Lean tools and systems (Lean Six Sigma green/black belt is a plus)
•Strong project management skills & proven ability to lead and/or manage complex projects.
•Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to participate actively in virtual teams & communicate, collaborate, negotiate & persuade across a broad variety of functions and cultures
•Ability to work independently or in teams.
•Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are preferred to manage a broad spectrum of activities/projects.
•Strong communication skills.
•Global Change Management (GCM) experience
•Be willing to travel up to 20% to support technical issues / projects.
