The Office of Sponsored Research (OSR or Research Office for short) at YachayTech assists faculty in the review, submission, negotiation, acceptance and administration of extramural grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements for research, training, and other sponsored programs.

The Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) provides grant pre-award, post-award and closure administrative services for externally supported projects. Yachay Tech seeks a motivated Director for the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) Review of applications will begin on 1 November 2016 and the search remains open until filled. The ideal Director will hold the following:

Qualifications 

  • Expert communication, facilitation, collaboration and problem solving skills, necessary to direct an organization, lead innovative research and operations, and interact with management and customer/sponsors and clearly and accurately convey technical content and value propositions to both expert and non-expert audiences.

  • Knowledge of key issues related to national scientific research priorities and funding policies.

  • Experience working with sponsors and to develop and secure sponsor support and funding.

  • Understanding of funders’ requirements.

  • Knowledge of grant pre-award, post-award and closure procedures.

  • Fluency in English and Spanish.

  • 5 years of relevant experience


Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of international scientific research funding, specifically funders like the EU, NIH, NSF, etc.

  • Relevant experience and established reputation in the science and technology community.

  • Experience leading, managing, and directing scientific or technical research activities and managing large-scale budgets and projects, negotiating resource allocation amid conflicting priorities, and in delivering programmatic results.

  • Knowledge of the national legislation regarding higher education, science and technology.

  • Knowledge of international grants management

  • Knowledge of budget management and public procurement.

  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, or a closely related scientific or technical field.
