Job Description:

Position Summary:

Develop, maintain and continuously improve laboratory automation

Reponsibilities:
  • The candidate is expected to program, operate, maintain, and trouble shoot laboratory automation, including conventional liquid handlers, acoustic dispensers, robotic arms, plate readers, and other devices.
  • Program, troubleshoot and maintain automated platforms Hamilton Bravo (ECHO and Biomek) a plus.
  • Utilize software applications and computer science knowledge in order to translate scientific requirements into the automation software.
  • Write/program application software for liquid-handling and instrument-tending laboratory robots.
  • Collaborate with scientists to translate scientific protocol requirements into application software.
  • Facilitate the development and validation of automated methods for bioanalysis.
  • Sample pooling for sequencing Collaborate with IT on Laboratory Information Systems to integrate automated data systems processes into analytical testing
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to provide training and support, as needed, for automation techniques.
  • Train/support clients on validated platforms Continuously improve  existing platforms
  • Direct experience with hardware platforms such as the Hamilton MICROLAB STAR, Biomek FX, Agilent Bravo, Labcyte Echo, and familiarity with integration software are a plus.
  • Strong quantitative skills, and the ability to function and communicate effectively in a highly productive multi-disciplinary environment are a must.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences, bioengineering, engineering, computer science or applicable field.
  • 4+ years of experience Experience with common analytical techniques is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of automation systems such as Hamilton, Tecan, Beckman is preferred.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of LIMS
  • Previous instrument or software validation experience is preferred
