Global Technical Operations - Shared Services is seeking interested candidates to lead end –to-end technical support of our most important post-licensure small molecule products. The candidate must be capable of providing boundaryless application of leadership skills in assessing, evaluating and providing proactive mitigations across Merck’s worldwide manufacturing network.

The successful candidate will be the technical single-point-of-contact for the Merck Manufacturing Division for the products they support. They will use their deep technical understanding of the end-to-end manufacturing process to improve process robustness across the manufacturing network, solve emergent technical challenges, implement strategic process improvements, and represent Global Technical Operations on various strategic teams. To accomplish this they will need to successfully interface with and lead teams comprised of engineering, quality, analytical and manufacturing specialists located at manufacturing sites around the world.

Interested candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to quickly solve technical challenges, to lead project teams, to appropriately apply project management and change execution management principles on complicated projects, and to successfully influence others outside their direct line of authority and in other organizations. They must have a sound understanding and experience with small molecule pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Lean six-sigma experience is preferred. When hired they will need to quickly come up to speed with Merck internal practices, organizational approaches, and operating procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

- Required: B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Pharmacy or other related engineering/scientific fields

- Preferred: M.S. or Ph,D in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Pharmacy or other related engineering/scientific fields

Required:

- Minimum twelve (12) years experience in a technical support role for drug substance or drug product manufacturing or development.

- Minimum five (5) years experience in small molecule drug substance or product support with demonstrated expertise in one or more related unit operations.

- Demonstrated interpersonal skills including flexibility and ability to work in a team environment.

- Proven analytical capabilities and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
