Job Details
Based in the world leading research team in the Computational Genomics group within the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol this is an exciting opportunity to join a strong team developing a state of the art bioinformatics resource, SUPERFAMILY, for protein structure and disorder in genomes.
You will develop and maintain existing SUPERFAMILY resource, working in close collaboration with both local and external collaborators managing other related or connected resources. A knowledge of web servers, bioinformatics tools and scripting will be essential for this work. In addition to this new external resources such as CATH will be integrated, and new HMM technologies will be implemented into the backend pipeline. You will need to address user feedback and respond appropriately as well as disseminating the resource at conferences, and via tutorials at external workshops.
You will have at least a first degree in a science and preferably a PhD in bioinformatics (or closely related discipline) and have good experience of computer systems and programming as well as a wider knowledge of bioinformatics.
Up to two posts are offered on a full time or part time, open ended contract with funding for up to 2 years.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place on 28th October 2016
Informal enquiries can be made to: Julian Gough (julian.gough@bristol.ac.uk)
