(CIVIL ENGINEERING/GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING)

This position is in the field of Geotechnical Engineering (Soil Mechanics/Soil-structure interaction/Advanced Geotechnical Engineering/Pavements/Materials).  The incumbent will be required to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, develop independent research programmes, supervise research and undertake administration duties. 

The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader.

Minimum requirements: 

All applicants must have a BSc (Eng) degree in a relevant field.   In addition, the following apply to each of the levels indicated below.  

Professor:

•    A PhD in an appropriate area
•    Teaching experience in a tertiary institution 
•    A recognized leader in the field of specialization with an extensive and current research and publishing record in DoHET accredited journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings
•    A successful post graduate supervision record at PhD and Masters level
•    A proven record of sourcing research funding
•    Management and leadership experience in an academic or research environment
•    Developed a network of research collaborations nationally and/or internationally 


Associate Professor:

•    A PhD in an appropriate area
•    Experience in either University teaching or relevant mentorship experience in an industrial or research environment
•    A current record of research as evidenced by publications in DoHET accredited journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings
•    Successful post graduate supervision or extensive mentorship in an industrial or research environment
•    A proven record of sourcing research funding


Senior Lecturer:

•    PhD degree in an appropriate area
•    Experience in either University teaching or relevant mentorship experience in an industrial or research environment
•    A current record of research as evidenced by publications in DoHET accredited journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings
•    Successful post graduate supervision or extensive mentorship in an industrial or research environment


Lecturer:

•    A Masters degree in an appropriate area 
•    Experience in either University teaching or relevant mentorship experience in an industrial or research environment
•    Evidence of research potential supported by current publications in DoHET accredited journals and peer reviewed conference proceedings

The successful candidate will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years of date of assumption of duty.
