The Department of Geography and Environment is now seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in remote sensing who will contribute to teaching and teaching administration in relation to our education programmes in remote sensing and environmental change. You will provide support to our teaching objectives by delivering teaching to students at postgraduate and/or undergraduate level, through allocated lectures, tutorials, practical, fieldwork and seminars. In particular, you are expected to support remote sensing teaching in our master’s programmes in Applied GIS and Remote Sensing and Online–GIS, as well as to contribute to environmental change teaching on our undergraduate programme.
The post is fixed term in nature to provide teaching cover.
You will have, or be about to be awarded, a PhD in remote sensing or a related field (or equivalent professional qualifications), experience of different satellite sensors and data products, satellite image analysis methods and applications, extraction of 3D information from various remote sensing sources including Lidar. An interest in the application of these methods to analysis of environmental change would be an advantage. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels and the ability to communicate new and complex information effectively, engaging the interest and enthusiasm of the target audience and deliver lectures and practical in courses relating to different aspects of remote sensing. Undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching experience would be advantageous.
