Duties and responsibilities:

Do statistical analysis for PhD and Master’s students at the UFS

Do statistical consultation work for external parties

Present lectures to students as required by the department

Actively market the Statistical Consultation Unit

Perform administrative tasks as allocated

Active research and publishing required

Inherent requirements:

• PhD in Mathematical Statistics
• Proven experience in the presentation of papers / posters at national scholarly conferences
• Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship
• A NRF rating or demonstrable potential for obtaining a NRF rating
• Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s students
• A proven research record of relevant publications in accredited national and international journals
• Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society, or committee or agency concerned with research at higher education levels

SAS & R programming

Report writing

Working in a group

Good communicator

Good presentation and negotiation skills

Strong analytical skills

Recommendations:

• 4 years’ statistical consultation experience (minimum)
• Management experience
• Marketing skills
• Actuarial background
