Job Details

Main Purpose: The main purpose of the Admission Consultant’s job function is to implement approved Student Enrolment Centre customer relations management procedures so as to provide a one-stop service to enquirers, prospective applicants, applicants and the parents of these individuals, with respect to applying to the University for both undergraduate and postgraduate applications, and to meet agreed targets for the conversion of applicants into registered students.  The Admission Consultant is the point of contact between the applicant and the University.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Ensuring that decision making is timeous and applicants are assessed according to the university requirements and selection criteria as set by the faculty;

·         Ensuring that all admission enquiries (telephonic, email, Customer Relations Management , one to one consultations, reception queries etc.) to SENC are dealt with timeously and in a professional and customer friendly manner;

·         Assessing the needs of the applicant with respect to broad career and curriculum advice, financial aid and residence requirements and advising accordingly; and advising all applicants on the entry requirements for degree programmes and assessing eligibility, both local and international applicants;

·         Liaising closely with faculty offices, Schools, Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, Counselling & Careers Development Unit, Campus Housing and  Residence Life, Parking and Library Services, Sports Administration and the Disability Rights Unit to ensure that the applicant gets the best service;

·         Providing a one-stop enrolment and registration service to first-time students including giving comprehensive advise to postgraduate applicants;

·         Dealing with various administrative tasks; and

·         Performing any other duties defined by the HOD/ Deputy/ other Managers from time to time.

Requirements, amongst many others:

·         Degree at NQF level 7, or equivalent

·         At least two years in a Faculty Office or similar environment.

Preferences:

·         Preference would be given to Candidates with working experience in a University or higher education environment.
