Tax Specialist for Germany, Industrial Chemicals, Freiburg

With responsibility for reconciling all global tax standards to German GAAP/HGB you will be the key contact for all tax queries within a large industrial chemicals company with their headquarters in the Freiburg area. With 16 subsidiaries spread across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, you will be working with a diverse range of finance professionals with different working cultures, giving you an interesting level of variety in your day-to-day communication.

The company you will be joining develop, manufacture and distribute their own range of products both direct to customer and also through their distribution network which covers over 90 countries worldwide, so they have a very well known brand in their niche sector. As part of a broad phase of organic business growth and re-investment, the company are taking on experts in Finance, HR and Administration to ensure they can plan for projected growth across the business group in the next 10 years.

Your role will be to act as the expert for Tax within the finance team who are all based at the company's site in southern Germany, near Freiburg. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be managing tax affairs throughout the group including reporting and transfer pricing and acting as the key person in the company for tax.

Responsibilites:

• Ensuring & maintaining tax compliance to German HGB/GAAP and IFRS
• Building relationships and working closely with national finance managers, auditors and government offices
• Acting as the main point of contact worldwide for tax queries
• Keeping up-to-date with changes in national and international tax law & assessing potential savings
• Developing strategies for tax with the CFO & Head of Finance
• Assisting in quarter-end and year-end closing & reporting

Requirements:

• At least 5 years experience in tax management (Big4 background preferred)
• Hands-on experience working with German Tax Law (HGB/GAAP) and IFRS
• Academic Degree in Finance/Accounting preferred
• Fluent German
