The Future Talent Program features internships that last 10-12 weeks during the months of June-August, 2017. For the 2017 program, students who accept the positions are responsible for housing costs.

Clinical Safety and Risk Management (CSRM) is responsible for clinical safety assessment and risk management from the start of late development onward through licensure, and then overseeing the ongoing safety assessment and management of the safety profile of our products. This summer internship position is with the CSRM-2 team, which supports drugs for infectious diseases, as well as vaccines.

Global Clinical Safety & Pharmacovigilance (GCS&PV) aims to improve public health by assuring the safe use of our products worldwide through proactive safety assessment, effective risk management and transparent risk communication throughout the developmental and marketed product life cycle, while ensuring quality and global compliance.

One internship position is available in 2017 in the CSRM Team based at our Upper Gwynedd, PA site. As an intern working with CSRM-2 (Infectious Diseases and Vaccines) you will work closely with experienced pharmaceutical industry scientist on one or more research projects with key tasks that include, but may not be limited to, the following:

- Plan and execute research studies to characterize the safety of licensed Merck drugs and vaccines, with the intent of better understanding real world experiences and optimizing use and optimizing public health.

- This work is expected to lead to participation in a presentation and or peer-reviewed publication.

- The experience will provide an opportunity to learn about and participate in pharmacovigilance through hands on experience.

Qualifications

Education:

- Required: Full-time student pursuing a MSc, MPH, MD or PhD degree in Epidemiology, Regulatory Affairs, Public Health, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and other relevant disciplines

- Returning to school in Fall 2017

Required Experience:

- Available for 10-12 week internship beginning June 2017

- Strong personal character and ethics

- Superior communication and interpersonal skills

- Excellent academic achievement and analytical ability, including basic data analytic and statistical training

- Good team player and ability to work independently

Preferred Experience:

- Working knowledge and understanding of epidemiology, public health practice, vaccine use, physicochemical and/or mechanical characterization techniques

A letter of reference from a professor is highly recommended; you may attach it in the same section of the profile as your resume.
