The School of Chemical Engineering
The School of Chemical Engineering is an international leader in the chemical engineering field and has an excellent international reputation which has been built over four decades at the University. With 35 academic staff, including 17 professors, the School provides quality programs and leadership in chemical engineering education, research and development, and expert consulting to support the process industries. UQ Chemical Engineering was ranked in the top 16 worldwide in the 2012 QS subject rankings for chemical engineering and was the top ranking school in Australia. It was also given the highest score awarded for chemical engineering in Australia in the recent ERA study.
The role
The objective of this project is to develop a novel and effective beneficiation process to upgrade particulate materials. The scholarship provide an exciting opportunity to undertake fundamental and applied research studies at the same time working closely with an industry partner and leading researchers in the field. He/she will work closely with Dr Liguang Wang at School of Chemical Engineering in addition to our industry sponsors.
The person
The successful candidate should be ambitious and have an MSc (or equivalent to a UQ bachelor's degree with honours class IIA or better) in mineral processing, chemical engineering, or related field. Potential students with an interest in mineral and coal beneficiation and interfacial engineering are strongly encouraged to apply. Familiarity with interfacial chemistry and their applications is required. Willingness and the capacity to interact in a multidisciplinary team and fluency in oral and written English are essential. Experience in solid-solid separation or solid-liquid separation is desirable.

Remuneration
This is a full-time, APA Research Scholarship. The stipend is valued at $26,288AUD per year for three (3) years, with a possible six-month extension. Students with domestic student status (Australian or New Zealand citizens, or holders of an Australian permanent residency visa) are not liable for tuition fees. The successful applicant with international student status will subsequently be nominated to apply for a UQ International Tuition Fee scholarship.
