The role

The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work seeks to appoint a Lecturer to teach into undergraduate and postgraduate programs in social work. The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate courses and contribute to program development, supervise Research Higher Degree students and pursue an active research agenda. Early Career Academics (ECA) will be considered.

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of social work and be eligible for membership with the AASW. Expertise in the area of social work and the law and/or social work with people living with disabilities would be highly regarded. Candidates should have a demonstrated enthusiasm for engaging in high quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and evidence of contribution to research commensurate with the position level.

To be considered for an Early Career Academic (ECA) appointment, at Academic Level B, you must be currently employed by an Australian university and have submitted or been awarded a PhD and either:

  • performed casual teaching work in four semesters or equivalent teaching periods over at least three years, preceding their application; or

  • been employed in a fixed term postdoctoral research fellowship, fixed-term research, replacement or subsidiary to studentship position in the two years preceding their application.


Persons who have previously held a continuing academic appointment at any University are ineligible to apply for an ECA appointment.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at Academic Level B. The remuneration package will be in the range $89,459 - $106,232 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $104,667 - $124,291 p.a.).
