Research Associate/Senior Research Associate on multiple drone computer vision for audio visual sho

This is an exciting opportunity to join a world leading research team at the Visual Information Lab (VI-Lab), Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Bristol, to perform state of the art research in multiple drone computer vision (active perception) for AV shooting for the Horizon2020 R&D project MULTIDRONE (MULTIple DRONE platform for media production).

You will be responsible for specifying, researching, implementing, integrating and testing novel algorithms on multiple drone HW/SW platforms for media production, namely multidrone computer vision algorithms (notably, multiple drone localization and visual target tracking, visual semantic world mapping, drone visual information analysis) for AV shooting, primarily of sports events.

The project will require a mix of theoretical and programming skills. You are expected to produce research publications (possibly in cooperation with other R&D team members or project partners) at international conferences and journals, research and develop novel methods and software and its related documentation and integrate and test it on multiple drone platforms. You will provide progress reports of different levels of detail for project deliverables, reports, meetings, reviews and project milestones.

You will work in close collaboration with both industrial partners and with other researchers of the UoB team and other Universities. You will liaise with MULTIDRONE partners for integration and testing. You will attend regular (weekly) research team meetings at UoB and project meetings at various partner sites.

You are expected to have a degree in electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or similar disciplines. Experience in research, development, of image processing, computer vision or related algorithms and in the development of C/C++ code (or other OOP languages) is essential. A PhD (or about to complete one) in Computer Vision, Image/video Processing, Robotics or related area is highly desirable.

The post is full time, on an open ended contract with funding for up to 2 years.
