Job Details
The University of Bristol seeks to appoint an exceptional scholar with an outstanding track record in research, teaching and academic leadership to a new Chair in Theatre and Performance Histories with effect from 1 September 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful candidate will support and contribute to the work of an established group of internationally recognized scholars in Theatre and Performance, providing energetic leadership as Head of Subject Unit (for a fixed period of 3 years, to commence on appointment). They will be expected to build further upon our local and national partnerships, work closely with national and international research networks and develop academic funding opportunities.
The Department of Theatre works closely with the world-leading University of Bristol Theatre Collection (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/theatre-collection/), using its exceptional holdings intensively for research, teaching and outreach activities. Working alongside the Theatre Collection Director and Faculty research leaders, the successful candidate will dedicate 20% of their time to further develop innovative ways in which the Collection can be integrated into academic research, progress Collection-based postgraduate provision, and ensure impactful dissemination of its rich holdings.
The University invites applicants from scholars whose expertise lies in the broad field of Theatre and Performance Histories, but on this occasion would particularly welcome applications from candidates with specialisms in mid/late Eighteenth- or Twentieth-century British Theatre and Performance Histories.
For more information on the Department of Theatre, see http://www.bristol.ac.uk/theatre/
For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Catherine Hindson, Senior Lecturer in Theatre and Performance Studies at Catherine.Hindson@bristol.ac.uk
The selection process is provisionally scheduled to take place between late January/end of March 2017.
The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Sunday 18th December 2016.
