Software Engineer – (Fixed Term Contract: February to June 2017)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fixed Term Software Engineer to join the Faculty within our Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and work within a research team for the NHRP-MBIE project “Building Quake & People: A Serious Game Platform for Informing Life Saving Strategies”.

Reports to: Dr Vicente Gonzalez

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with research teams to design video game with the aim to teach and to entertain (audio features and prototypes), storyline and character biographies (if required).
  • Generate game scripts, develop agent-based systems and develop user interface.
  • Document design process and technical specifications.
  • Implement unit tests and validation procedures to assure quality.


Experience:

  • Essential: Video game development
  • Preferred: Agent-based systems


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent
