The main campus is based in Parkville, which is one of the premier medical research hubs in the world. The new Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (due to open in June 2016) is a $1billion facility purpose-built for cancer research, treatment, education and care. It provides a new home for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and provides new cancer research and clinical services for Melbourne Health, new research facilities for the University of Melbourne, and close proximity to Royal Melbourne Hospital.
The Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences provide over 20 courses and 300 subjects to approximately 3,500 equivalent full time students. The Faculty provides the only professional entry veterinary program in Victoria and the Bachelor of Agriculture is the fastest growing undergraduate degree in Australia. The University of Melbourne's agriculture program is the largest in Victoria and ranked 36 in the world, whilst the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program was the first graduate veterinary professional entry program in Australia. The Faculty is ideally placed to contemplate changes that have far-reaching consequences on its teaching, engagement and research.
The Associate Professor or Professor in Veterinary/Comparative Oncology will hold a significant leadership role within the Faculty and will be jointly based at the University's Parkville campus and the Faculty's teaching hospital at Werribee. The successful applicant is required to hold an excellent record in leadership of research teams with a strong commitment to service engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration as well as the capacity to effectively build successful teams by fostering academic excellence in others. The post will participate actively in all aspects of academia including research, research supervision, teaching and engagement.
The position will be offered at Associate Professor or Professor depending on the level of academic achievement and standing by the applicant. An attractive remuneration package will be offered.
