Centre for Advanced Imaging

The Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) is a strategic initiative of The University of Queensland, reflecting the growth in biotechnology, biomedical and materials research requiring advanced imaging capabilities.  As a leading imaging research facility in Australia, and one of a handful in the world, CAI brings together the skills of a critical mass of researchers and 'state-of-the-art', world- or Australian-first research imaging instruments. NMR, EPR, MRI, PET, CT, US, MS and optical imaging are now key platform research technologies for studying the structure and function of biomolecules and living organisms, from proteins to the human.

The role

Bachelor degree in Science or a related field, with at least 2 years' subsequent relevant research support experience.  Must possess knowledge and competence within a research environment, conducting general laboratory experience procedures, and in animal experimental procedures.  Must have a good understanding of safe laboratory working practices and methodology, together with laboratory OHS standards.

Suitable applicant must be in agreement to undergo a satisfactory medical clearance and disclosure of any relevant medical history relating to 'working with animals' previously, and the capacity to work successfully within a research team.

The person

Applicants must possess qualifications in a relevant discipline, and possess the capacity to work successfully within a research team or independently.

Demonstrated high level of problem solving and organisation skills,  competent use of a wide range of computer and research software applications, excellent attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including other research staff and students, industry fellows or external partners.

You must be self-motivated, independent thinking, systemic problem solving skills, together with excellent initiative, judgement and a strong work ethic to achieve research goals and be able to take direction from more than one supervisor. 

Remuneration

This is a part-time (18 hours per week), fixed term appointment for one year (pro-rata). The remuneration package (2016  pro-rata pay rates) will be in the range $62,716.31 to $70,241.69 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be in the range $68,674.36 to $76,914.65 p.a.).
