German Tax Specialist, Freiburg, Chemicals Industry

My client are an international chemicals company that have manufacturing facilities in 15 countries and operate through their distribution network and partners in over 100 countries worldwide, which has given them a strong brand presence in the industry, making them a valuable place to work for anyone that wants to build their employee profile and increase their employment opportunities in the future.

As Tax Expert you will be the key point of contact in team of three people covering tax issues worldwide, with primary responsibility for ensuring tax compliance with German HGB (Handelsgesetzbuch), GAAP and IFRS, so you will have regular contact with German Tax Authorities ensuring you keep your knowledge up-to-date.

As a result of the company's international profile, you will also be responsible for ensuring compliance and completing quarter and year-end closing, so will be working with national and international tax law in Europe, the US and Asia, allowing you to develop your tax expertise.

Responsibilites:

• Ensuring tax compliance to German HGB/GAAP and IFRS
• Maintaining contact with national finance managers in relation to all tax queries
• Acting as the main point of contact worldwide for tax related queries in the company
• Keeping up to date with changes in national and international tax law to assess any potential cost savings and increases
• Developing tax strategies in collaboration with the Head of Finance

Requirements:

• At least 5 years experience in Tax Consultancy/Advisory (Big4 background preferred)
• Academic Degree in Finance/Accounting preferred
• Good knowledge of German HGB, GAAP and IFRS
• Fluent German and a good level of English speaking
