Faculty of Engineering
We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual with strong organisational and technical skills to perform the duties of Electronics Technical Officer across the Laboratories of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. These comprise the Structures, Geomechanics, Hydraulics, Environmental and Transport Laboratories, all sited in adjacent buildings at the Newmarket Campus of the University. The appointee will work out of a new office in the state of the art Structures Test Hall, a purpose built facility opened in 2015 and which is one of the most advanced structural testing laboratories in the Southern Hemisphere.
The University of Auckland is New Zealand's pre-eminent research-led University. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is the largest department in the Faculty of Engineering, with approximately 40 academic staff and over 160 postgraduate students, engaged in a wide variety of research in the above laboratories.
The applicant must hold a current Electrical Services Technician qualification (higher level qualification will be a significant attribute) and have experience in working on, repairing, building or modifying 230v single phase and 400v 3 phase appliances
The ideal applicant will also have had experience working in a research organization engaged in postgraduate research. The chosen applicant will demonstrate an excellent standard of oral and written communication and an ability to assist students and staff in their research and teaching activities. A good working knowledge of University of Auckland policy and procedures, including Health and Safety is desirable
