The Department of Exercise Sciences is New Zealand's top ranked academic programme in sport and exercise science. The main purpose of the department is to increase the understanding of human movement and its relation to sport, exercise and health

The Department of Exercise Sciences is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic academic with experience in Sport and Exercise Psychology to fill a newly created Lecturer position in Sport Psychology.

The successful candidate will:  

  • possess a PhD in an appropriate discipline along with postdoctoral work demonstrating excellence in teaching, scholarship, and success in acquiring research funding.
  • be skilled and practiced in research informed undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in sport and exercise psychology. Success in supervision of postgraduate research students will be an important attribute of your academic profile.
  • coordinate and lead the teaching of courses in their specialist area at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Collaboration through teaching and research within and beyond the department is expected.
  • be expected to continue and extend an active research programme including links to external stakeholders, supported by external research funding and/or contract revenues. 
  • contribute to departmental committees and the service functions of the department and faculty. These contributions can include academic and pastoral care, especially for undergraduate students; development of course material; delivery of practical classes, demonstrations and workshops; marking and assessment.


This position is based at the Tamaki Campus
