Job Details
To lecture and contribute to curriculum development in Horticulture while providing support to the Department in pursuit of its objectives in teaching and learning, work integrated learning, research outputs, supervision of students and community engagement
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Doctoral degree in Horticulture or Crop Production with the specialization in Ornamental Horticulture
- Base qualification: Horticulture or Crop Production with the specialization in Ornamental Horticulture
- At least four years relevant working experience, of which 2 years teaching experience at university level
- Research experience in supervision and outputs
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
- Teach the subjects at Diploma and higher levels: Ornamental Horticulture (Greenhouse Technology, Plant Propagation and Production), Horticulture Production Technology, Ornamental Plant Material Studies
- Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the Department
- Participate in curriculum development
- Perform student assessment
- Participate in research
- Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department
- Monitor and assess work integrated learning
- Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies
- Assist with marketing and recruitment activities
- Mentor junior staff
- Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
