We are seeking a dynamic individual to act as the Senior Research Associate - Trial Manager for the Action 3:30 Project. This role is central to the success of this NIHR Public Health Research Scheme cluster randomised controlled feasibility trial of an after-school physical activity programme in 12 primary schools across greater Bristol.  The main task is managing the trial, including further developing protocols and standard operating procedures for each of the study processes, further developing databases for managing the research and outcome data, managing a research administrator and fieldworker employed on this project (both to be appointed), overseeing the recruitment and follow-up of participants in the trial and being accountable for ensuring that the trial is conducted to the highest possible standards. The post is available from 3 April 2017 until 30 September 2018.

Applicants should have significant experience of measuring physical activity in young people; proven experience of managing randomised controlled trials in schools or similar context; the ability to draft project reports and papers; and excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.  A PhD or equivalent in physical activity / related field or Master’s level degree or equivalent and relevant physical activity research experience is essential.
