The Institute of Modern Languages (IML-UQ)

The Institute of Modern Languages (IML-UQ) – Queensland's leading language services provider since 1934 provides language assessment, teaching and course development services for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

It is a unit within the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty and operates on a fee-for-service basis. More information can be obtained at the IML website at www.iml.uq.edu.au.

The role

  • 2 x full-time French Language Teachers working for 37.5 hours per week for 2 to 3 months
  • Teaching - 15 to 20 hours per week
  • French Courses at Beginner/Intermediate level from (1) 23 January to 7 April and (2) 13 February to 7 April, 2017
  • Monday to Friday 8am - 5.00pm based at a Defence base in Melbourne
  • Use existing syllabus and course materials

The person

Applicants should possess a tertiary qualification in teaching/education or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Applicants should also have a high level of proficiency in French and spoken and written English; French language teaching experience (preferably with adults); sound knowledge of different approaches to language teaching; and sound knowledge of the history, politics, society and culture of French speaking countries.

Remuneration

These are short-term full-time appointments for 2 to 3 months. The remuneration will be in the range $1,760 to $1,882 per week plus 9.5% employer superannuation contribution.
