Literacy Assistants (15 hours per week) (academic year) (contract appointment: 1 year)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Teach an academic literacy course in English for 15 hours per week (3 groups).
  • Responsible for assessment, teaching, attending training sessions and record-keeping.
  • Write Site consultation (3 hours per week).
  • Attend compulsory training sessions

  • Inherent requirements:

    • B Degree.
    • Excellent English language proficiency both written and spoken.


    Required competencies:

    • Facilitation skills in an educational environment.
    • Good time management and organizational skills.
    • Basic MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills.


    Recommendation:

  • Teaching experience.
  • Teaching qualification or English II.

  • Assumption of duties:

    01 February 2017

    Salary:

    R262.90 per hour for facilitating/teaching.  Remuneration for class and preparation is included in this hourly tariff and remuneration for marking can be claimed additionally.

    General:
