DEPARTMENTAL ADMINISTRATOR C (TWO-YEAR CONTRACT APPOINTMENT)

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 11

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Performing secretarial tasks for Head of Department and other personnel;
  • Departmental and office administration;
  • Liaising with support services, facilities management, other academic departments and external resources;
  • Making arrangements for departmental meetings/colloquia/events;
  • Assisting with communication and distribution of the Innovate Magazine;
  • Assisting with departmental marketing;
  • Assisting with departmental maintenance/facilities and asset management.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicable Secretarial/Office Administration diploma;
  • At least three years’ relevant administrative and secretarial experience, including duties as mentioned above, in a tertiary institution;
  • Skilled in the use of MS Office programmes and web based systems.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Computer proficiency;
  • Appropriate language and communication skills;
  • Organisational abilities;
  • Accuracy and the ability to multi-task;
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Adherence to due dates;
  • Ability to liaise with a variety of people at both national and international level;
  • Ability to function under pressure and to prioritise.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • BA or equivalent degree.

The all-inclusive remuneration package for this contract position will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
