Job Purpose

The role of the College of Medical and Dental Sciences Operations Manager (Facilities) is to co-ordinate and manage the delivery of all facility related services within the College and provide professional leadership/management for the College Core Support Services, Timetabling and Facilities teams. This is a senior post within the College Infrastructure and Facilities Team and the post holder will be a member of the senior management team for Infrastructure, along with the College Head of Infrastructure and Facilities, the College Health and Safety advisor and the Estates Planning Business Partner.

Person Specification

  • Qualified at least to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Significant previous experience of building management
  • Membership of, or eligible for membership of British Institute of Facilities Management
  • Evidence of management or leadership contribution to a significant service improvement project
  • Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety Issues / Policies / Procedures
  • High level of numeracy and proven prior experience of managing budgets and analysing basic statistical information.
  • Previous experience of supervising/managing a diverse team.
  • The ability to influence and lead colleagues, and to communicate a vision that harnesses support for change.
  • IT skills, particularly Microsoft office packages
  • Previous experience of working in an HE environment or similar.
  • Project management experience including experience of capital developments would be very advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills eg. capability to lead, motivate, facilitate
  • Highly developed organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure/meet deadlines
  • Problem solving and organisational skills to deal with complex and difficult situations autonomously as they arise
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills to deal with a wide range of contacts, both internally and externally
