Job Purpose

The Teaching Academy (TA) brings together academics and professional services staff to enhance our teaching and improve the student experience and will promote recognition and reward for excellence in teaching. The TA Administrator will provide high level support for the TA Director in the day-to-day running of the TA. This is a diverse and challenging role that will involve activities ranging from organising meetings, events and workshops, to adding content to the website and assembling the e-newsletter, and to providing administrative support for the Teaching & Learning Conference, the teaching awards and fellowships and special interest groups.

Person Specification

The administrator will have the following experience and personal qualities:

  • Good general education, at least to GCE A-level, including GCSE English and Mathematics
  • Excellent IT skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint, and the ability and willingness to learn new software in support of the role, in particular the use of CMS (Contensis) web content programmes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) at all levels to varied audiences
  • The ability to engage effectively with academic and administrative colleagues, external organisations and visitors
  • Excellent organisational abilities to manage a demanding workload
  • Ability to work on own initiative, manage time effectively, progress tasks concurrently and work to deadlines
  • The ability to exercise discretion regarding the handling and management of sensitive information
  • Experience of University Finance systems and procedures
