Equity

The University of Auckland, New Zealand’s leading University, is committed to excellence and equity.  More than 5400 academic and professional staff support over 41,000 University of Auckland students to achieve their aspirations.  The Equity Office– Te Ara Tautika, leads the University’s commitment to be a fair and inclusive place to study and work.  It has strong relationships with the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Māori and the Director Pacific Strategy and Engagement and plays a key role in supporting the University’s commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and equity objectives.

The Equity Office team works within a complex, varied, busy environment. Our work includes strategy, governance, policy, projects, monitoring, evaluation and a wide range of initiatives including the University-wide Tuākana Learning Community for Māori and Pacific students, services for students with disabilities, and support for Equity Groups.

Reporting to the Director of Student Equity, you will be a key member of the Equity senior leadership team, providing high quality advice and support on equity policy.  You will contribute to achieving equity outcomes through an integrated approach to planning, development, implementation, evaluation, monitoring, analysis and reporting on a comprehensive range of programmes and initiatives.

To be considered for this position, you should hold a relevant tertiary qualification and will have extensive experience in effective strategy, policy, quantitative and qualitative data analysis. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to adapt your working style to suit the audience while employing a partnership approach to service delivery.

The ability to engage with diverse people at all levels is key to the success of the Equity Office.  You will be an effective listener who demonstrates sound judgement and integrity.

This is a great opportunity to work in a flexible environment where your work will make a difference. The University is committed to meeting its obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi and achieving equity outcomes for staff and students.
