Job Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bristol Regenerative Medicine Laboratories (BRML) at the School of Clinical Sciences, University of Bristol.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate to investigate a novel multi-hit gene therapy for Parkinson’s Disease. The study is funded by Parkinson’s UK and our aim is to test whether microRNA-7 can be used to halt the underlying synucleopathy progression and whether a combined delivery of GDNF and microRNA-7 (GDNF-7) can be a viable treatment for Parkinson’s Disease. We will test this approach in our alpha-synuclein overexpressing model of Parkinson’s and use a sophisticated range of behavioral, histological and biochemical analysis to determine treatment outcomes.

The project is led by Dr Oscar Cordero Llana in collaboration with Dr Liang-Fong Wong (University of Bristol) and Professor Richard-Wade Martins at the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre (University of Oxford).

We seek a talented scientist to join our enthusiastic and collaborative team in a supportive scientific environment. This position will suit a versatile scientist with experience in both molecular and in vivo approaches. The successful candidate must hold (or be about to be awarded) a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject.

Name, tel no and email details for informal contact: Dr Oscar Cordero Llana, 0117 331 1439, Oscar.corderollana@bristol.ac.uk
