Job Details
A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Prof. Jean Pieters at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel to study the processes involved in immune cell activation.
Our laboratory is investigating the cellular activation processes that are involved in the body's responses towards pathogenic stimuli. Immune cell activation strongly depends on the triggering of cell surface receptors in order to transmit signals to diverse signaling pathways that allow the cell to respond appropriately. Our recent work suggest a crucial role for coronin 1 as well as its homologue in the lower eukaryote Dictyostelium discoideum, in activating intracellular signal transduction processes (see also Pieters et al., Nature Rev. Immun. 2013; Jayachandran et al., PloS Biol., 2014 and Vinet et al., MBoC, 2014). A major aim in the laboratory is to unravel the biochemical and molecular mechanisms involved in such signal transduction. The project envisions the use of a variety of state of the art biochemical, molecular biological and cell biological approaches including RNAseq, proteomics, shRNA- and CRISPR/Cas9-based screening technologies as well as state-of-the art imaging analysis.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology and ideally be familiar with cell biological and in vivo techniques; Furthermore, the candidate should be highly motivated, self-driven be able to work well in a team as well as independently.
Applications should be submitted electronically including your CV, research experience, statement of research objectives and recommendation letters to:
