Job Details
The Institute of Nursing Science (INS) at the University of Basel invites applications for a position of post-doctoral fellow to join the Patient Safety and Quality of Care Research Group. The position allows building up a research profile focusing on health services research and implementation research in long-term care, including nursing homes, extramural care and transitional issues. As a part of the position, the postdoctoral fellow assumes responsibilities in the project INTERCARE, which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation in connection with the National Research Program 74 "Smarter Health Care". INTERCARE's overall goal is to develop and evaluate a Swiss nurse-led inter-professional care model to improve care coordination and quality of care in Swiss nursing homes, focusing particularly on the reduction of avoidable hospitalizations.
Your tasks
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Assume responsibilities in the planning and execution of the INTERCARE study and further studies in long-term care
- Supervise PhD and Master's students
- Write and submit grant applications
- Actively disseminate research findings (e.g. publishing, conferences)
- Participate in teaching activities of the Master in Nursing Science curriculum
Your profile
- PhD degree in Nursing Science, Public Health, Medicine, Health Economics or another field of health sciences with outstanding grades/scholarship
- Experience in long-term care research
- Sound knowledge of basic office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint)
- Sound methodological and statistical skills and knowledge of statistical analysis software such as R or STATA and the willingness to strengthen these skills and knowledge
- Proficiency of either German or French (at least level C1 according to CEFR) - oral and written skills in other language desirable
- Good oral and written English skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and to work under pressure
