Job Summary:
To contribute meaningfully to ensure quality teaching and learning. To support the development of critical thinking of staff and students in the school and faculty by increasing capacity in handling legal issues associated with our curricula. To introduce students to legal research and reasoning and provide practical training in legal problem solving, essay writing and advocacy. To nurture students who will contribute positively to society by advancing specialised knowledge and paving a way to a better future.
Minimum Requirements...
-
A PhD in Public Management and Administration specialising preferably in Public Policy, Public Finance, Local government and intergovernmental relations etc.
-
At least eight years’ experience in an academic and research environment, including a publication record and supervision of master’s degree and doctoral students
-
For associate professor and professor applicants one should at least have five years’ experience in supervising M & D students and a NRF rating would be an added advantage
-
Eight years’ teaching experience at a higher-education institution
-
Involvement in the community as well as experience in university structures such as faculty and/or department meetings would be a recommendation
-
Knowledge of current developments in the field of Public Management and Administration (for teaching and research)
-
A high level of computer literacy, with the ability to use various Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
-
Demonstration of diversity management in order to function optimally in the various multilingual and multicultural environments of the NWU
-
The ability to work in a pressurised environment and meet deadlines
-
High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to function optimally as part of a team
-
Effective communication skills
Responsibilities:

Publishing research articles and conference papers

Supervising master's degree and doctoral students

Teaching Public Management and Administration modules

Marketing the department in terms of recruiting students and maintaining relations with local stakeholders

Community engagement and/or implementation of expertise

General academic administration
