Austlit Web Developer

School of Communication & Arts

AustLit is an important national cultural studies resource and database coordinated within the School of Communication and Arts. The AustLit website and database provides authoritative information on Australian literary and cultural heritage. AustLit supports research and teaching in Australian culture across a range of areas, publishing datasets, full text and digital humanities research outcomes. AustLit's aim is to be the definitive virtual research environment and information resource for Australian literary, print, and narrative culture scholars, students, and the public. AustLit is an ongoing program that forms an important element of Australia's e-research infrastructure.

The role

The successful appointee will be required to work on the enhancement and maintenance of the AustLit website, specifically to incorporate changes made within the context of the 2016-2017 Teaching-Enhanced Learning expansion project. The Web Developer will work closely with the other AustLit Web Developers to implement suitable content management solutions.

The person

Applicants should possess a Bachelor Degree in I.T. or equivalent. They will need to demonstrate high level ability to code in Object Oriented programming languages, and show considerable experience in developing and maintaining websites and database management systems. The applicant should have demonstrated knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and be able to use UNIX based systems. The applicant should have the ability to work independently, and be able to work effectively in a team.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at HEW 6 to the end of 2016. The remuneration package will be $74,207.07 - $79,964.50 p.a. plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be $81,257 - $87,561 p.a.).
