PLEASE NOTE: The position is externally funded and the continued employment is dependent on the availability of funds.

Duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for teaching and learning of undergraduate students including surgery (burns) and basic rehabilitation principles.

Supervise and assess students in the clinical areas, especially with relevance to the Burns Unit.

Responsible for administrative tasks within the Department and School for Allied Health Professions.

Market under- and postgraduate programmes within the Department Physiotherapy.

Conduct own research and supervise undergraduate research. 

Inherent requirements:

B.Sc. in Physiotherapy.

Registered as Physiotherapist for 2016 with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Three (3) years clinical experience in rehabilitation. 

A good academic record.

Valid driver’s license.

Required competencies:

• Organisational abilities
• Good human relations.

Recommendations:

• Paediatric NDT or adult NDT/Bobath certification.
• Willing to enrol for a masters’ degree in Physiotherapy at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.
• Ability to teach and train students according to the language policy of the University of the Free State.

Assumption of duties:

1 February 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
