Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation

The Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI) is a unique research institute in Australia – a jointly funded initiative of UQ and Agri-Science Queensland and Biosecurity Queensland, part of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF). QAAFI conducts research and development to benefit the food and fibre sector both nationally and internationally.

The Institute's strengths are reflected in its three research centres – the Centre for Plant Science, the Centre for Animal Scienceand the Centre for Nutrition and Food Sciences.  QAAFI brings together scientists from UQ and DAF to conduct high-end science that delivers higher impact outcomes for industry and the community.

QAAFI offers postgraduate programs in the disciplines of Plant, Animal and Food sciences internally and externally and provides professional training to both Australian and international students.

The role

The primary role of this position will be to provide research assistance in relation to research activities in the area of genomic and biochemistry and molecular biology.

The person

Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree in science with experience in the area of molecular biology, biochemistry and genomics or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. You should possess good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at HEW 5. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,597 - $72,348 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be in the range $70,734 - $79,222 p.a.).
