During the 6 month Co-op program the student(s) will gain experience with handling the “Facilities Specialist” role by working alongside the West Point Command Center Operations team.
- Primary responsibilities will involve developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of West Point facilities, operations, and personnel.
- The Specialist utilizes available resources to ensure continuous smooth operation of the site and documents emergencies as required.
- Operates the department monitoring systems for Security, Utilities, and Fire protection.
- Acknowledges and dispatches out-of-normal conditions to appropriate personnel to ensure the situation has been remediated and/corrected.
- Comprehensive Training will be provided of all software which includes Siemens Insight, Continuum and the Incident Reporting Module.
- Co-op will also be involved in several ongoing projects for streamlining operations and maximizing results.
- This position will involve direct communication and collaboration with multiple departments and vendors.
- Co-op will be exposed to all aspects of plant site operations including GMP and GLP environments.
- Work with minimum supervision, excellent multitasking and problem solving skills required.
- Student (s) are responsible for learning and adhering to all Merck Safety, Health, Environmental, GMP and regulatory requirements (as required by task).
Qualifications
Education:

Currently enrolled in a Bachelors program in Business & Engineering, Engineering, Chemical Engineering Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Required:
*
Must be available for a period of 6 months in 2017.
*
Must be able to work flexible hours and undergo federal background check for access to classified systems.
*
Position may include weekend, night or 12 hour shift work.
Preferred:
*
Minimum GPA of 3.0
*
Limited or no previous work experience/first Co-op
