Applications are invited for the above full-time positions. The positions require candidates with strong communicative skills, and preference will be given to candidates with an interest in or track record in research in the actuarial field. The School offers undergraduate & postgraduate degrees in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Statistics, and exemptions are offered from the examinations of the Actuarial Society of South Africa for all the A100, A200, A300 and F100 subjects. To date, over 550 former students have qualified as Fellow actuaries.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Lecturer - FASSA (or a mutually recognised professional actuarial Fellowship qualification (FFA/FIA/FIAA) and the preparedness to obtain FASSA), plus an Honours’ degree (or equivalent 4-year degree), with some work experience as an actuary in the business world.

Senior Lecturer – As for lecturer, but in addition at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience at an appropriate level of relevant actuarial practice.

Duties: 

Teaching, course development and research, supervision of students for Honours’ projects, Masters’ research reports and dissertations, willingness to undertake research for publication. In addition, the candidate would be expected to participate in the activities of the Actuarial Society of South Africa.
