Research Technician in Neuroanatomy
Department of Anatomy and Medical Imagining, School of Medical Sciences

The Neuroanatomy Research Group, Department of Anatomy and Medical Imagining, seeks to appoint a research technician to assist in neuroanatomical and neuropathological studies on neurodegenerative diseases in the human brain within the Centre for Brain Research.  This is a level 4 position, supported by a Health Research Council Programme Grant studying mechanisms of neurodegeneration in human brain, and is available as a fixed term 1-year maternity cover position.

The vacancy would suit candidates with a BSc, MSc or equivalent in Biomedical or Biological Sciences with an interest in the neuroanatomy and neuropathology of the human brain.  Experience in general histological, immunohistochemical and pathological techniques, with a demonstrated expertise in microscopy is preferred.

Duties will include responsibility for laboratory, health and safety, and financial management for the research and assistance with the training of graduate students.  This position would suit someone who is well organised and able to multi-task, is self-motivated, industrious and has initiative.  The candidate must also be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
