The Office of Medical Education

The Office of Medical Education has been established within the Faculty to provide academic leadership in the delivery of the MD/MBBS program, and more broadly in the field of medical education. The Office and its staff work to oversee the development, resourcing and implementation of the MD/MBBS curriculum. A key role of the Office is to ensure that all teaching and learning activities within the program, including assessments, are evaluated in a systematic manner, and that suitable improvement strategies are implemented where required.

The role

The successful appointee will provide high level academic input into all assessment processes and practices used within the MD/MBBS curriculum. It also supports the SOTL-related activities of the program teaching staff, and contributes directly to the effective functioning of the Office of Medical Education. In addition, the incumbent is expected to develop and execute their own educational research activities, and to undertake direct teaching within the program.

The person

As an applicant you should possess an undergraduate qualification in Medicine, Health Sciences, Biomedical Science, Education or other related field. You should also have demonstrated practical experience in the delivery of medical or biomedical education and have the ability to develop assessments relevant to medical education that use a variety of formats and that can be delivered across multiple geographic sites. Togehter with proven knowledge of approaches to standard setting for assessment tasks by using recognised methodologies. Your skills set should reflect excellent teaching skills at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, high levels of interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish effective relationships.

Additionally, applicants at Level C must possess a Research Higher Degree in a relevant field, ability to conduct research and evaluation activities relevant to medical education, as evidenced peer-reviewed publications and grant applications. Formal postgraduate qualifications in higher education, or demonstrable leadership in the delivery and assessment of higher educational courses or programs.

Remuneration

This position is available for 1 FTE at Academic Level B or C, as commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The remuneration package will be in the range:

  • Academic Level B - $92,142.74 - $109,419.20 p.a. (FTE), plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in  the range $107,807.00 - $128,020.46 p.a. (FTE)

  • Academic Level C - $112,874.46 - $130,150.91 p.a. (FTE), plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $132,063.11 to $152,276.56 p.a. (FTE)
