Applications are invited for a Research Associate or Senior Research Associate position in the Cryptography group within the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol. The group has significant funding and we are usually looking to recruit research staff in the following areas:
• Practical aspects of Multi-Party Computation and other areas related to computing on encrypted data.
• Theoretical aspects of Multi-Party Computation.
• Areas related to the evaluation of the security of cryptographic implementations.
• Designing and implementing cryptography that is resilient against real world attacks.
• Design and implementation of tools, including compilation techniques, that help improve security of cryptographic implementations.
The Cryptography Group is mainly based within the Department of Computer Science. Along with the departments of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Engineering Mathematics, the Department of Computer Science sits within the Merchant Venturers' School of Engineering.
The Cryptography group at Bristol is a world renowned group working on a range of topics spanning theoretical and practical cryptography. The group collaborates on the international stage; with recent work being conducted with Aarhus, Bochum, TU Darmstadt, ENS Paris, EPFL, Georgia Tech, HP, IBM, KU Leuven, Microsoft, Royal Holloway, and TU Graz to name but a few.
The group has extensive existing funding from various sources including the EPSRC, the EU, the ERC, the Royal Society, and DARPA.
You must have experience in one of the sub-areas of cryptography mentioned above. You must possess a PhD or expect to be awarded one soon.
Appointment may be made at the Research Associate (grade I) or Senior Research Associate (grade J) level depending on skills and experience and will be for up to 2 to 3 years in the first instance.
