Principal Investigator: Assistant Professor Yusuf Ali, LKCMedicine
Co-supervisor: Associate Professor Karen Crasta, LKCMedicine
Project Description:
Death of insulin-secreting beta-cells leads to uncontrolled hyperglycemia in both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. While few mechanisms have been postulated to cause diabetes, one overlooked mechanism is impact of deranged lipid handling on mitochondrial function and DNA integrity. This project seeks to understand how deranged lipid handling, such as compromised Fit2m expression, effect beta-cell function and diabetic pathogenesis.
If you have questions regarding this project, please email the Principal Investigator, Assistant Professor Yusuf Ali, at yusuf.ali@ntu.edu.sg
