Job Details

The Department of Philosophy at the University of the Witwatersrand is looking to appoint a permanent position at the rank of lecturer, commencing July 2017 or January 2018. The post is open to candidates who are specializing in any area of philosophy, though preference may be given to candidates researching in, or able to teach, African Philosophy and/or Philosophy of Mind. Candidates should possess a PhD or be in the final stages of completing their PhD.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach large and diverse classes in all years of study, cooperate with colleagues in advancing the objectives of the Department, and contribute actively to the intellectual and administrative life of the Department and University.

Candidates should show promise as a productive researcher and effective teacher and administrator.

Commencement of a publication career will be advantageous.

Remuneration: A competitive salary with excellent benefits will be offered, dependent on qualifications and experience.
