Job Position: Hematologist/Oncologist

Clinician Investigator

A full-time permanent faculty position as a pediatric hematologist/oncologist in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Pediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Avenue, Toronto, ON which is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children; affiliated with the University of Toronto is available effective immediately.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Hematology Section and Hemoglobinopathy Program as a Clinician Investigator, with 50% protected time for research. The Hematology Section comprises four programs (Hemoglobinopathy, Thrombosis/Hemostasis, Marrow Failure and Myelodysplasia, and General Hematology) with dedicated physicians, nurse practitioners, clinic contact nurses, and social workers. The Section includes members with clinical, translational and basic research interests in various domains related to these programs. Additional strengths include a vibrant research community at SickKids and its Research Institute and the University of Toronto.

The position, within Canada’s largest pediatric Hemoglobinopathy program, involves an active clinical and/or translational research program in one or more of the domains related to hemoglobinopathies including sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, iron overload or other rare hemoglobinopathies. Clinical responsibilities include hematology consult service and coverage for admitted hematology patients, ambulatory clinics at SickKids and participation in the out-of-hours physician call schedules for the Section.

The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($230,000-300,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance and a relocation package and may be eligible for a one time signing bonus.   All candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications.  Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
