Minimum Requirements:
Professor:
- Doctoral Degree in Chiropractic or equivalent
- At least 5 years lecturing experience at a higher educational institution
- An extensive publications and research record in accredited journals that is consistent with the University’s Staff Promotion Policy
- Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) in Chiropractic
Associate Professor
- Doctoral Degree in Chiropractic or equivalent
- At least 5 years lecturing experience at a higher educational institution
- A proven track record of research that is consistent with the University’s Staff Promotion Policy
- Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) in Chiropractic
Senior Lecturer
- Doctoral Degree in Chiropractic or equivalent
- At least 3-5 years lecturing experience at a higher educational institution
- At least 1 research publication
- Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) in Chiropractic
Lecturer
- Masters’ Degree in Chiropractic or equivalent
- At least 1 year lecturing experience at a higher educational institution
- Evidence of research
- Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) in Chiropractic
Additional Recommendations:
- Experience in e-learning
- Competence in the field of chiropractic clinical practice
- A minimum of 2 years work experience in private practice
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Power point and internet usage
- Proficiency in research or tertiary education instruction will be an advantage
- Teaching experience and / or educational qualifications, preferably in the field of Chiropractic or medical education
- Evidence of leadership and managerial skills
- Experience in curriculum development and mixed mode delivery
- Experience in programme accredition
Summary of Duties:
- Teaching and assessment of modules/subjects in the department of chiropractic at any level
- Responsibility for the following portfolio: Undergraduate and Post Graduate Research Administration within the department
- Undertake research activities including research administration portfolio in the department of chiropractic
- Supervision of research students
- Supervision of students in the chiropractic day clinic, hospitals and external community engagement sites
- Preparation and development of teaching materials
- Involvement in curriculum development
- Provide academic support to facilitate student success
- Involvement in Community engagement initiatives organized by the department/faculty
- Administrative and auxiliary duties in line with the above functions
- Represent the department as necessary on institutional committees and professional forums
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department
- The successful candidate, if appointed as a Lecturer, will be required to complete a doctoral degree within 5 years of appointment
Salary:
Lecturer: R258 924 to R466 512 p.a plus benefits
Senior Lecturer: R289 164 to R502 140 p.a plus benefits
Associate Professor: R374 076 to R560 772 p.a plus benefits
Professor: R411 852 to R664 632 p.a plus benefits
