Minimum Requirements:
Professor / Associate Professor:
- A completed Doctorate in Language Practice/ Applied Linguistics
- A substantial and recent publication record in the discipline
- A minimum of 10 years teaching experience (Professor) or 5 years (Associate Professor Level) at tertiary level
- Experience in teaching isiZulu/English translation at tertiary level
- A record of successful supervision of postgraduate research
Senior Lecturer
- A completed Doctorate in Language Practice / Applied Linguistics
- A recent publication record in the discipline/s
- A minimum of 5 years teaching experience at tertiary level or 3 years’ experience in a relevant professional field
- Experience in teaching isiZulu/English translation at tertiary level
- Applicants must have teaching experience at a tertiary level or 5 years in relevant professional field
Lecturer
- A Masters’ degree or its equivalent in Language Practice/Applied Linguistics
- IsiZulu must have been done at least at Honours/ BTech level
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience at tertiary level
- Experience in teaching isiZulu/English translation at tertiary level
Additional Recommendations:
- Teaching experience at a University of Technology
- Teaching experience with English second language students
Summary of Duties:
- Teach mainly in the Language Practice programme within the department
- Offer formal instruction at an undergraduate level which entails co-ordination, lectures, tutorials, seminars, preparation (including reading around the subject and assessment)
- Undertake and conduct research in the department
- Assist in the Curriculum Renewal Project
- Undertake administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Department / Programme Co-ordinator
Salary:
Lecturer: R258 924 to R466 512 p.a plus benefits
Senior Lecturer: R289 164 to R502 140 p.a plus benefits
Associate Professor: R374 076 to R560 772 p.a plus benefits
Professor: R411 852 to R664 632 p.a plus benefits
