DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATICS
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR (ONE POST)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Active participation and leadership in the research agenda of the Department;
- Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Informatics;
- Departmental administrative tasks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate Professor:
- A Doctorate in Informatics/Business Information Systems/Information Technology/Computer Science;
- Academic status in the relevant discipline;
- A proven research and publication record;
- National recognition as a researcher;
- Experience in the successful graduation of Master’s and/or PhD candidates;
- Experience in undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching.
Professor:
- A Doctorate in Informatics/Business Information Systems/Information Technology/Computer Science;
- Academic status in the relevant discipline;
- A proven research and publication record;
- National and international recognition as a researcher;
- Experience in the successful graduation of PhD candidates;
- Experience in undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching;
- Established research career in one of the related research areas;
- Proven leadership skills and abilities.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Information technology and socio-economic development;
- Information systems in the organisation;
- Systems analysis and design;
- Business programming;
- Database management;
- Data science.
PLEASE NOTE: Active engagement as a researcher in Informatics within one of the Department’s focus research areas in Informatics is required.
Important requirements for this position are industry experience especially within the field of Business Programming and Database Management, Business Intelligence and Data Mining.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
