The Research Data team within Springer Nature’s Open Research Group seek a passionate and adaptable Research Data Manager for an exciting new role in the organization.

Reporting to the Head of Data Publishing, the successful candidate will work on research data publishing activities across Springer Nature. They will shape, manage and deliver open data projects and services at Springer Nature, which are intended to help researchers and editors publish more transparent and reproducible research.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, test and manage delivery of data publishing services and projects
  • Support business development of data publishing services
  • Manage Research Data Support helpdesk services including data policy implementation by Springer Nature publications
  • Support journal editors and authors across Springer Nature to comply with research data policies, and to publish research data supporting their publications, in partnership with data repositories
  • Represent Springer Nature at research data events/conferences, community working groups and in interactions with research funding agencies and institutions

Person specification

  • Degree in the natural sciences, library or information sciences
  • Excellent understanding of research data metadata and data repositories, and journal research data policies
  • Significant experience in a professional editorial/publishing role, or in a research data management/publishing role at an academic institution that has included management of research data publishing
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications or experience
  • Passionate about open research and open data
  • Deep understanding of research data policies and practices
