Applications Manager EMEA, Flexographic Inks, Köln

As Head of Applications Technology you will be the key point of contact for the Applications teams based in Germany & Russia. With a team 15 Applications Specialists this is a heavily management focused role but with hands-on customer contact which includes performing some applications testing and maintaining customer relationships for key accounts in Germany & Russia, allowing you to develop management expertise while you further develop your own network in the industry.

The company you will be joining are a manufacturer, developer and distributor of Inks with 1,000 staff at their German headquarters in Köln and almost 5,000 staff worldwide. Despite their size, they have short decision making processes which allows them to sign-off on new projects on a very quick time-scale meaning they can be highly reactive to changes in the market, an approach which has allowed them to stay highly competitive in the industry compared to smaller businesses.

The Applications Team includes a huge amount of technical expertise within the 15 person team with an approach to Applications Development which is highly innovative and creative and is focused around finding the right solution for their customers, so it's a team that provides high quality service and satisfaction to new and existing customers. As Head of Applications you will have direct responsibility for 4 Team Leaders who will manage all Applications Specialists, allowing you to focus on strategic decision making and formulate long-term plans for the team.

Role Responsibilites:

• Direct Management of the Applications Team
• Overseeing all new product development projects
• Strategic development of the customer portfolio, co-ordinating projects and helping with defining technical product specifications
• Optimising development procedures and processes for the laboratory
• Identifying technology changes & new development opportunities in the market
• Providing on-site customer support for key customer accounts in Germany & Russia (up to 40% travel)

Requirements:

• Academic Degree in Chemistry
• At least 5 years experience in Applications Development or Technical Service
• Professional background in the Inks industry preferred but will accept experience in Industrial Coatings
• Previous direct management experience of at least 5 people
• Fluent German & at least Intermediate Russian essential
